Woodcut Tru-Grind Premium Sturdy Rest
Woodcut Tool's founder Ken Port wanted to make sharpening more simple, accurate and repeatable. In the late 1990's Ken collaborated with Jerry Glaser from the USA to design the Woodcut Tru-Grind. Ken and Jerry recognized that many turners have various physical constraints and therefore wanted to make the sharpening process simple.
In 2020, with customer feedback Woodcut Tools began a process to design a new higher spec Premium Base Slide and Sturdy Rest to make the sharpening process even more simple, accurate and repeatable. After almost three years of testing various new Base Slide and Sturdy Rest design prototypes with turners across the world to ensure the new products were right, the new Woodcut Tru-Grind Premium Base Slide and Sturdy Rest is now available.
The new generation Tru-Grind Premium Sturdy Rest features a wide platform to ensure stability while sharpening, especially scrapers. In addition there are reference marks on the platform and arm to assist turners to simply repeat the sharpening set up.
The Premium Sturdy Rest arm is securely supported in position for safe sharpening. When not in use, or when using the Tru-Grind Toolholder, the Premium Sturdy Rest swings down out of the way to allow easy access to the grinding wheel.
The assembly inserts into the front of the Tru-Grind Premium Base Slide. Made from thick plate steel to eliminate flexing and powder coated to ensure long life.
Wide plate width for all sharpening - A narrow plate width can make it difficult to achieve optimum sharpening, especially when sharpening Round Nose Scrapers. The New Tru-Grind Premium Sturdy Rest platform is 110mm wide.
Simply add the Tru-Grind Premium Sturdy Rest to your sharpening system - The new generation Tru-Grind Premium Sturdy Rest is simply and quickly inserted into the new Tru-Grind Premium Base Slide, refastening the end cap and ready to use.
Accurately repeat your sharpening set up - Numerical laser etch markings on the platform plate and arm to support accurately repeating the sharpening set up.
Easily adjust the height set up between 6" and 8" wheels - Machined holes on the arm support the set up between different heights of sharpening machines.
Single product for ease of set up on both left and right - The new generation Tru-Grind Premium Sturdy Rest attaches to the Tru-Grind Premium Base Slide from the front, making it suitable for both left and right hand set ups.
